Nicolai Risbjerg (DK) is educated at Bergen Academy of Fine Arts. Through sculpture, performance and installation Risbjerg asks how we get society to embrace more individuals whose identities do not fit into our binary, heteronormative societal structure?
With an aim to make the world more gender neutral, more queer, more inclusive, more loving, Risbjerg creates alternative narratives in which classical understandings of gender and love are dissolved.
By merging classical understanding of gendered toys, Nicolai Risbjerg puts lights on our tendency to (subconsciously) teach children that life is black and white. Childhood is our first encounter with the boy/girl duality, so it is important to come up with alternatives already here, by giving our children a nuanced understanding of the world.
